What does it entail? Working for different organisations for a short time (between 1 day and 3 years) to help them achieve some element of their business eg. propose and manage a ‘live’ project, evaluate their work or find a new direction for their work. How did you get into it? BA (Hons) in Performing Arts and MA in European Cultural Policy, lots of voluntary work and then lots of work in arts organisations. Did you need any qualifications? I probably would not have been considered without a degree. What tips would you give to someone interested in your profession? Volunteer first to get experience and work out what it is you want to focus on. How competitive is it to get into your area of work? I’m out of touch on that one. What do you enjoy the most about your profession? That I am supporting the arts. What do you enjoy the least about your profession? That organisations are constantly having to look for money. What’s the most interesting thing you have done or the most interesting person you have met? The wonderful thing about working in the arts is that you meet lots of interesting people who are passionate about their work and come from very different backgrounds and have very different perspectives on life.        |
